h&m sheer ls top/ DIY Leather Skirt/ Dinsko wedge shoes
Isn't it great to wear a band shirt without actually wearing a band shirt? this tank arrived in the mail the other day and I absolutely fell in love with it. i guess it's the second in my collection of no name band shirts, the other being my stop making sense shirt.
i love the subtle reference of both shirts, you would have to be a fan or at least seen/heard of either bands to know the connection. besides being the cover of Unknown Pleasures by one of my all time favorite bands, this tank top is just a great great addition to my wardrobe. thumbs up to Amanda of Is-Mental for inspiring me to even look for such a treasure in the first place.
Oh, for those of you who might not know, let me quote wikipedia on a brief history of the cover image:
"
The front cover image comes from an edition of the Cambridge Encyclopedia of Astronomy, and was originally drawn with black lines on a white background. It presents exactly 100 successive pulses from the first pulsar discovered, PSR B1919+21—often referred to in the context of this album by its older name, CP 1919.[5] The image was suggested by Bernard Sumner and the cover design is credited to Joy Division, Peter Saville and Chris Mathan."

[1 Mock Blazer] - [charcoal fabric] + [light washed denim] + [faux leather sleeves] + [metal tooth zipper]= NEW JACKET!
i'm not a leather jacket girl but i made one with leather sleeves inspired by an Alexander Wang version but i know it'll never be a staple in my wardrobe, the shade of denim is so hard to wear with any other color except black. the thing i like most about mine (and even more then the AW one) is the exposed zipper down the center back- not pictured here due to the volatile photographic conditions that evening. maybe i'll creep in a photo this weekend when I wear it.
p.s. if you think i'm ignoring comments, please don't, I'm just on vacation & lazy! I'll get to them soon.

did anyone else fall in love with THESE pants from Chloe's S/S 09 collection? they've been haunting me for a while and then I found the most perfectly colored and weight of fabric that just reminded me of those pants so I decided to create a version of my own. Of course they arn't a straight knock off but for me, my version is perfect! I realized while wearing these pants that they need a crop shirt, so I'm going to make a bondage one and one with shoulder-pads and one with studs. The top needs to be very fitted to counteract the full waist these pants have.
I am actually quite surprised at how well these turned out, they are my second pair of woven pants EVER.
oh, I'm going to California (Redding & San Francisco) for 2 weeks so blogging might be a tiny bit slow as well as updates to MishaMarket but I have some stuff up my sleeve. I think this mini vacation will give me plenty of sketching and pattern making time.

my mini bondage collection continues with a pair of navy and black bike shorts (that i've been living in for the past week).
they're made with a great navy jersey fabric that stretches so well around the legs. holds everything in where it needs to and stretches over the parts it needs to. the pair I made for myself were slightly too long (they hit my knee cap) but in the end I really like the look of the fabric bunched up around my upper leg.
bike shorts are definitely not for everyone, I'm still deciding myself but they're so comfy and perfect for hot weather and I love trying to dress them up. lately I've been pairing them with a sheer long sleeve, oversized tee with shoulder pads and my boyfriends button up shirt and a leather panel blazer to top it off.
I am finalizing the design for these today and putting them up in MishaMarket later tonight (if all goes well)
p.s. the fringe necklace will also be in the shop soon! i've gotten so many compliments and requests for it from people on the street that I've decided to add it to the shop :)

1.Ftroupe/ 2. Jeffrey Campbell/ 3. 80%20 Cork Wedge/ 4. SSWTR Wedge Sandal/ 5. Monki Sadi Wedge/ 6. Dinsko Wedge/ 7. Vagabond Navy+Black Wedge
1. These are all the shoes i've bought in the past FEW weeks- a lot more then I usually do. I attribute it to the fact that shoes are the only thing I can't design & Sweden has some amazing mid level footwear brands (Vegabond, Monki, less so but Dinsko as well).
2. Notice that one of my favorite brands, Jeffrey Campbell has released an almost identical S/S 09 YSL Cage Boot. I was a pinky lengths away from blowing my rent on the real deal when I decided to spend it on various summer travels instead (California, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona to be exact!). I'm going to Paris next month and I almost feel like it's a cardinal fashion sin to wear these there? Yes, fashion is a revolving door and you can almost always find the similar elements from garment to garment, but this is straight up a knock off... either way a big thanks to JC, i'll be guiltily walking the streets of Paris in those boots in a few weeks.
3. THE CHALLENGE- i am testing myself in the next two months. I want to see if I can STOP SHOPPING during May and June. The exceptions: food, necessary toiletries & underwear when needed as well as thrift store items ONLY when I'm in San Francisco & Redding. This challenge ends on June 26th, when I fly off to Paris with a group of shop savvy friends at which time we'll all hit the shops. I'm doing this in the hopes that I can get my wardrobe organized, currently a waterfall of clothes pours out of it when the door is opened. 2nd (and even more exciting) reason is that hopefully my pockets will be amply stuffed for Paris shopping. I started this anti- shopping challenge at the beginning of May and since have not bought anything so far.

a less complicated version of a ONE dress- this dress is slightly more fitted at the bottom and can be worn a few different ways (add a belt for a more defined waist). I'm sure some of you will come up with better ideas then I did in my photos. it comes in black and gray, I might add some really (gasp!) light pastel colors. I saw some mint fabric at the store that I almost snatched up but my hungry wallet stopped me.

before
after
I'm going to try to share more photos of my sewing process- currently my camera is not working so all my photos are thanks to photo booth. for a long time, i've been sketching out some bondage/cut out dresses, vests, shirts and various other things and sometimes my problem is that I feel the need to illustrate the perfect garment before I begin to sew so today i let myself go and draped this all elastic cut out bra on my dress form. then I tried it on, pins and all, to adjust it for my much smaller chest. now i've sewn it all down but can't decide if i should leave the spaces or fill them in with a black jersey. I have many more ideas for this- items might show up in a future mini collection on MishaMarket- and I promise as soon as my camera is working I have many things to put up on there!- speaking of which, those of you who enjoy using your camera for self photography, please do share the model, I am looking around!

yesterday johan and I received our F-troupe shoes.
everything about this purchase makes me scream, first the order arrived like 2 days after we ordered online from their ONLINE shop. second, the boxes are just as appealing as the shoes themselves, I don't think i'll be throwing these away for a while. both boxes are entirely different. I opened johans pair to be surprised by a small cream colored envelope with the word Johan written on the front. it revealed itself to be a notecard on which someone from F-Troupe has hand drawn an outline of the shoes that Johan bought with a personal hand written note inside saying:
"Dear Johan, Thanks for your order. Enjoy your shoes!
x F-Troupe."
hands down the best shopping experience I have ever had, including brick and mortar shop visits. cheers & thanks F-Troupe!

today i went shopping with johan so i could help him buy new spring clothes (he came back with cuffed shorts, lovely tshirts, a tank and an awesome blue spring jacket- probably a few things I'll be wearing from time to time) and i saw this t-shirt at WEEKDAY and it instantly reminded me of this dress I made myself a while back. they had taken an oversized tee shirt made of the SOFTEST jersey i've ever felt and added shoulder pads and stitched the edge of the shoulder under to create this look. I loved it so i bought the beige and a black version. I've altered both. the nude one received rolled sleeves, tacked in place and black stitching down the center back to create a line of gathered fabric (which made the fit slightly better since the only sizes left were medium)
the black one received rolled sleeves in addition to an inside out serged seam down the center back.
