amazing miami vice like art painting found at misha.com.au
many of you that visit the blog assume that I'm Swedish and to be honest I really don't mind being mistaken for a one of the most stylish set of people on the earth (they all really ARE beautiful) but alas, I'd be lying if I let you all continue to think that. I live in Sweden but started as a baby in India, then put in a year in England and finally landed on the shores of California, where I have since resided until less then two years ago, when I decided to move to Stockholm for a very special lovely reason... so maybe the Swedes have influenced my style, my eating and consuming habits but my Indian roots and my San Francisco pride won't ever be changed, no matter what city line i cross (my first time in NYC made me lust for SF even more)...och jag måste erkänna, för alla svenskar som råkar läsa min blog, trots att jag har bott här i nästan 2 år är jag inte ens nära att prata flytande svenska. Men jag är väldigt smickrad över de kommentarer jag får på svenska och önskar att jag kunde svara på samma språk...någon dag ska jag att göra det!
p.s. thanks Lotta for helping with this post!

images from wwd.com
these just came out and my jaw dropped- although not all of it's what i'd wear BUT i am impressed that the man can make combs look good. also- i havn't seen fringe look this good (and non 20's referential) in a while. the black and white fur like jacket is made of thousands of plastic hang tag fasteners, the nude jacket has a tiger image made of straws, the amazing white angular shoulder jacket is made of toilet paper (i heard Chanel couture09 also uses paper) and the amazing denim one piece is recycled denim.

2. DIY stud knee denim pants + monki tee + various thrifted chains
3. DIY silk pants + DIY color block tee + H&M mens scarf
so i've been exclusively wearing pants (thanks to the constant -7Cish weather and snow outside). here are some of my recent remakes and DIY pants...in addition to all the faux leather panel pants I've been making for myself, friends and random buyers. in san francisco i was definitely a skirt/dress girl, this city has really changed my style wise and i'm loving it.

i love it. that mens jacket, those crazy lopsided dresses and the stacked shoes- the beige tonal outfit might be one of my favorites as well as those amazingly constructed pants.

thank you:
1. readers & shoppers
for all the great comments about my new shop and my newest projects, although its not my reason for blogging, the love i get here is really appreciated and always puts a huge smile on my face
2. Les Mads
for such a great article on mishamarket...i have always been a fan of their blog because they have such a great eye for new designers/collections/people.
my shoe collection is so messy- this shoe rack is such a brilliant idea- especially since I have much wall space to spare and no closet space :( i might have my boyfriends brilliant father (who has practically renovated our flat from top to bottom in the past year)do a version of it. secondly those minimarket wedge boots with the zipper down the back, need i say more?

here is my 20ways dress. i made this without a particular design in mind- just an odly cut piece of left over fabric and some really good music. i draped the appendage fabric on my own body- the basic underdress was made flat on my wooden floor. i already have two orders for this- it's one of my favorite dresses, it's perfect for tonal dressing...something that I am beyond obsessed with at the moment...
watch out for a feature in the shop called ONE- single versions of intricately draped dresses and shirts, only available once (like this one).
i'm going to try to make these in a one size fits all size.

an interview from viewonfashion.com
"For Dianna, one of the main aspects when she starts working is to experiment with the duality of people and their expressions. Everything is located halfway between masculinity and femininity, between active and passive, and these dualities are in constant movement as she always focuses her inspiration on people, not on clothes. For Dianna, clothes are an extension of the person wearing them.
Her collections tend to offer options, never answers, with the idea that each person can create their own look and a unique balance between different moments in their life."
her work really resonates with my current design work ethic- last night I made a tonal grey outfit/dress that can be worn about 10 different ways...photos later tonight as well as a new idea for the shop!

i am excusing myself from blogging about fashion today to drink red wine and watch Obama and people lucky enough to express their appreciation of him on the tele. this is a cake that an American coworker and I bought for our office in celebration. it came like that straight from the bakery. only in sweden could we have a cake with "white lady" written on it!

1. Alexander McQueen for Target collection.
...most of these collections (with the exception of key pieces from Richard Chai) are usually a major disappointment but these two looks (and even the one shoulder dress not shown here) are actually well done. i might be calling the sister to ship me a few pieces.

2. EDIT: Mens Fall/Winter 09 THIS Alexander McQueen mens collection is amazing- the stare could kill. it reminds me of oliver twist, sherlock holmes, johnny depp, and mary shelleys Frankenstein all wrapped up in one dark, dirty killer collection.

I've been very busy lately working and working- does anyone else ever make things and not wear them- this skirt for example, I like it but I'm not sure it fits that well into my wardrobe, especially since I've been obsessed with all over nude or all over white tonal dressing (more on this later)
I do like how this looks with a chunky scarf wrapped around my neck- to make the upper part of my body seem a bit heavier. The mustard portion of this skirt was part of a vintage skirt and the black and zipper was added by me. maybe this is a giveway project....

image from justjaidenjames
ever since i saw these lace pants by Jaiden James, I've wanted my own female version...here they are. i had to look hard to find the right kind of lace, and this one is a cross between fragile lace and very heavy crochet lace (a la Prada). of course I have not been wearing these without stockings underneath- it's just too cold. now that i've re-examined the JJ version, maybe i should make some nude colored leggings so the lace is not lost over black tights?
